I'm a researcher using the tools of ecology to study practices and policies that can support more sustainable agriculture and food systems.
I was born and raised on the slopes of Hualālai, in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i. I'm now a Ph. D student at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara. My Ph. D research focuses on the potential for crop biodiversity to increase production while reducing the negative environmental impacts of agriculture.
When I'm not playing with words, plants, or data, I love trail running, ocean-swimming, and experimenting with new ways to cook beans.
I also love experiencing the world through reading and writing poetry. Please find some of my recent published poetry here.
